From time to time, in the quiet moments — under hot water in the shower, or just before sleep pulls me under — I hear these words rise from somewhere deep in my soul:
“Find where you are needed.”
It’s one of those phrases that doesn’t yell. It whispers. But over the years, that whisper has rooted itself in the corners of who I am. When I find myself back at the proverbial drawing board, trying to figure out where to go next, those words return like an old friend. A quiet compass. A core idea I keep coming back to.
I’ll be brutally honest…I’m especially prone to selfishness.
Left unchecked, my thoughts naturally drift toward myself — my life, my stress, my needs, my preferences. My own little kingdom of concerns. That’s not a confession I offer lightly. It’s just true. I can get consumed by my own story.
